On August 7th, 2022, Modelhunt International returned for its third year in none other than New York City. The event was held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City and featured innovative designers showcasing their latest collections. A not-to-be-missed event for fashion lovers and industry insiders alike, as we celebrated the best of fashion and crowned the first winners of Modelhunt International New York. Co-produced by Tagline 360 New York and in partnership with Victor Brand Holdings Group.
This year’s event did not disappoint, with stunning collections from a range of designers. The highlight of the show was undoubtedly the crowning of the first ever Modelhunt International New York champions.
MODELHUNT International was launched in 2019 on a jam-packed weekend with 10 runway shows over two days on July 27 and 28, 2019 in the Fashion Theater of the California Market Center in the heart of Los Angeles’ fashion district. Across 10 categories, 150 models of varying ages, shapes, and sizes sashayed down a 60’-plus runway in front of an enthusiastic crowd and panel of judges whose backgrounds span across the entertainment and fashion world, including Emmy Award-winning producers, designers, casting agents, and more.
The brainchild of Executive Director Errol Isip, who is also the casting director and choreographer for LA Fashion Week and produced shows for the biggest fashion brands like Dolce Gabbana, Armani, Guess, Gucci and so many more, created a showcase for the models to strut their stuff. And over the course of the two days, local and international clothing brands and designers such as Sarmy, LOB, King Design, Ata by DK and Nercina Couture provided the models with a colorful palette as they vied for their categories coveted title of the historic first winners of MODELHUNT International.
America’s Next Top Model alumna Erin Green donned the role of host and entertained the crowd. Prizes across categories varied and depended on category sponsors.
MODELHUNT International’s categories included: kids, teens, petite, plus size, mature, fitness, edgy, trans, persons with determination (PWD), and mainstream.
Due to COVID, Modelhunt International changed directions in its second year and turned into the 1st Virtual Model competition with more than 30 candidates who were virtually trained and had to participate in various in-person challenges that spanned three months (for health and safety regulations). These 30 candidates started with a Print Modeling challenge in July, Commercial Modeling in August, and Runway Modeling in September. The challenges were not just giving each participant a taste of modeling, but they also tested real-world challenges for these people in modeling. Hosted by America’s Next Top Model 1st runner-up winner Jeana Turner.
Now in its 3rd year, Modelhunt International launched in NEW YORK CITY with even more exciting and bigger things for the finalists. In New York, anything can happen and we’re excited to show you all what we have in store! It’s undeniable that New York possesses a disproportionate amount of influence in shaping America’s (and the world’s) beauty standards. All eyes are on it, always. Modelhunt in the Big Apple is not just another model search but is fashion’s own “school of life”; empowering models through a series of training and mentorship
sessions that help them package and embody the self they want the world to be inspired by.
One of the main attractions for this year is a chosen winner being flown to Dubai and walk in the House of Victor 2023 Collection Fashion Show in November, which will be hosted by Victor Brands Holding Group. Winners from each category will also be featured in Victor Magazine and each will receive Dominos and Domina Perfumes, as well as an opportunity to get signed with Infinity World Models in Dubai.
Candidates strutted their stuff on the runway during the final night of the competition, wearing a variety of brands including House of Victor, Elysian Goddess, Higher+Higher, Anna Gupta Designs, Andrew James, Perry Jones, Bless by Bless and Darren Apolonio.
The competition was fierce but in the end, there could only be one winner in each category.
And the winners are:
Ashanti Boston (Plus Category)
Dash Porter (Edgy/Alternative Category)
Michael Tomysch (Mature Category)
Katherine Saenz (Petite Category)
Daniel Kaljaj (Men’s – Mainstream)
Salama Doucouré (Women’s – Mainstream)
New York City is definitely the place to be for fashion and we’re thrilled to be a part of it! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Modelhunt International.
