Fashion and beauty routines are a part of our daily lives. Society today has shaped a certain expectancy of the perfect image one must manage. Which has directed people to set whimsically high criterions for oneself, expressly in case of the young generation. As the times are changing, the fashion and beauty industries are evolving with them. The emphasis is gradually shifting to acceptance and recognition of women’s natural look and the use of these beauty products for true women- empowerment.
The power of Fashion and styling grasps the capacity of empowering the women from inside-out. Style and make-up reflects the wearer’s mood, overall confidence, power and the impact on the perception of people. The power of make-up can help women in self-acceptance and transformation. Female empowerment today is fighting against stereotypes and takes pride in acceptance of diversity to show the real women.
Each look captured by the students reflects an innovative idea for staging activation, originality and knowledge sharing.
“A girl should be two things: who and what she wants.” – Coco Chanel. This look reflects the courageous act for oneself, bold and strong character, which can be portrayed on-screen and also exists in our day-to-day lives. The look is inspired by Greek mythology and their love for colors to show the power and mood of the gods and goddesses. The Greek goddess replicated is Hecate who is known for her mystic powers and her dark but strong aura. Gold and black were chosen as the main colors to add dramatic effect and contrast. The black portrays seriousness and mystery amidst the extravagance of the gold. This style features shimmering golden eyes, lips with black lining and a headpiece of roses and thorns with a black veil. The hair was made to look wet and sleek to compliment the makeup. Ears were kept minimal with simple hoops and the look was completed with a statement necklace.
“Like art, revolutions come from combining what exists into what has never existed before.” – Gloria Steinem. This amazing work by the students reflects the empowerment of women through their amazing art, fearless, powerful and vision of revolution. Taking inspiration from chains and one-line art, this makeup look portrays the concept of grunge boldness and abstract art. Black chains are used to create the artistic patterns over, outlining the features. The color scheme red and black is chosen to bring the ideas to life. The slicked back hair adds to the theme.
